NEXUS Announces Changes at Canadian Airports

Nexus - Silver Immigration

The Canadian Border Services Agency (“CBSA”) announced that it is making changes to the popular NEXUS program at Canadian airports. NEXUS allows pre-screened travelers expedited processing when entering the United States and Canada.

The NEXUS kiosks that previously used iris recognition technology are being replaced with new ones that use facial verification technology. The new kiosks have already been installed at Vancouver International Airport, Montréal-Trudeau International Airport, Halifax Stanfield International Airport, Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport and Edmonton International Airport.

What is the Nexus Program?

Nexus was introduced years ago to help faciliate crossings between the United States and Canada for pre-approved members. Once you have been interviewed and approved for the Nexus program, your Nexus status will be valid for 5 years. The cost of obtaining your Nexus is $50 USD.

Am I able to renew my Nexus?

Generally speaking, if you have not had any immigration issues or any personal changes, you should be able to renew your Nexus online before the expiration of your current Nexus.
